On The Boardwalk

I can still make her out

hiding there... in that foggy steam

as it rose from the grey planks

She knelt, on one knee

her foot , awkwardly perched

on the sand dune

Her hand waved in the air

wiping the wisp of her side bang

from her eye

Eyes like sea glass reflected off of the

robin egg sky and that sage

seer sucker bathing suit.....

summers end was near

September, fall leaves....
